Universal Life Insurance in Lewisville, Built to Adjust With You
Universal life gives you lifelong coverage with premiums you can raise, lower or skip within limits. That flexibility only helps if someone explains how it works. One agent walks you through the numbers, sets up the policy and checks in on it with you over the years.
How Universal Life Works and Who It Suits
Universal life can last your whole life, provided enough money remains in the policy. Each payment splits in two: one part pays the monthly cost of insurance, and the remainder goes to a cash value account that earns interest. Since the pieces are tracked apart, you can adjust what you pay and, within the policy's limits, the amount of coverage.
It suits people who want permanent coverage but earn different amounts from one year to the next, like business owners. In strong years you can put in more, and in slow years the cash value can pay the monthly charges.
It's not right for everyone. If you only need coverage while there's a mortgage or kids at home, term life usually costs far less. If you'd rather have a fixed premium and a set cash value schedule, whole life may suit you better. We'll tell you which one fits before we quote.

How We Put Your Policy Together
- 01
Your needs come first
We start by asking who depends on you, what personal or business debts you carry and what you want the policy to do. Those answers set your coverage amount, not a chart.
- 02
Picking the right type of universal life
Universal life comes in a few forms. Guaranteed universal life is built to keep coverage in force and grows little cash value. Current-assumption and indexed types lean toward building cash value. We lay out what each one gives and gives up.
- 03
Your illustration, line by line
Every quote comes with an illustration showing premiums, charges and cash value over time. We go over each line with you, including what happens if the policy earns only the guaranteed minimum interest.
- 04
Beneficiaries and riders
Naming a beneficiary looks simple, but an old name or a missing backup can hold up a claim. We check your primary and backup beneficiaries, then talk through riders like waiver of premium or accelerated benefits for chronic illness. We add only what's useful to you.
- 05
Check-ins with the agent who wrote it
Universal life needs looking after. When you want to adjust your premium or make sure the policy is on course, you reach the same person who set it up.
Questions about Universal Life Insurance?
Call(972) 573-7853Signs Universal Life May Be Worth a Look
Your income is uneven
Commission, seasonal or business income makes a fixed premium hard to plan around. Flexible payments can match the way you actually earn.
Your term policy is ending
If your term life is close to expiring and you still need coverage, universal life can carry you forward. Converting or replacing it while you are healthy keeps more options open.
You want coverage for life, at a lower cost than whole life
A guaranteed universal life design can lock in lifelong coverage for less than a comparable whole life policy, as long as you accept less cash value.
You share a company with a partner
If one owner dies, a buy-sell agreement needs cash so the survivor can buy out the family's share. Permanent policies are a common way to fund that, and to cover a key employee. Universal life lets the amount change as the company's value changes.
You have an older universal life policy nobody has reviewed
Policies bought years ago were often illustrated at higher interest rates. If you have not looked at yours in a while, it may be underfunded, and it is better to know now.
How the Process Runs From First Call to Delivered Policy
- 1
A phone conversation
You tell us what you want to protect and we ask about age, health and budget. If universal life is not a good fit, we say so and point you toward a better option.
- 2
Quotes and illustrations
We compare designs and show you two or more funding options side by side. You see what a lower premium means for how long the coverage lasts.
- 3
Application and underwriting
We fill out the application with you. The carrier may ask for health questions, a short paramedical exam or medical records, and we follow up with them so you are not chasing paperwork.
- 4
Delivery and a walk-through
When the policy is approved, we review the final terms with you before you accept it, including the beneficiaries and the premium you have chosen.
- 5
Check-ins down the road
We look at your annual statement with you and adjust if your plans change. One agent stays on the file, so you never have to explain your situation twice.
What Moves the Price of Universal Life
The price of universal life comes from two places: who you are and how you decide to pay into the policy. Clients of the same age asking for identical coverage can end up with quite different premiums. We walk through each factor so every number on your quote has a clear reason behind it.
- Age and health
- Insurance charges are based on your age and underwriting class. Tobacco use and conditions like heart disease or diabetes raise the cost.
- Coverage amount
- The more your beneficiaries would receive, the more the policy deducts each month to pay for the insurance itself.
- How long the guarantee lasts
- Guaranteeing coverage to age 90 costs less than guaranteeing it to 121. Choosing the age that fits your goals is one of the biggest levers on price.
- How much cash value you want
- Funding the policy above the minimum builds cash value faster but raises what you pay each year.
- Riders
- Added benefits such as waiver of premium or a child rider each add a small charge.
Common Universal Life Questions
What happens if my cash value runs low?
The policy can lapse. When the cash value reaches zero and your payments fall short of the monthly charges, the coverage ends. This is the single most important thing to understand about universal life. A no-lapse guarantee or regular reviews prevent it, and we keep an eye on it with you.
Universal life or whole life: which should I pick?
The choice is mainly flexibility versus certainty. Whole life sets your premium and spells out cash value growth for each year. Universal life lets you adjust your payments, and sometimes your coverage, but its cash value depends on credited interest and what you pay in. We can weigh them by phone, and our Whole Life Insurance page covers the fixed option in more detail.
Can I pull money out of the cash value?
Usually, yes, with a policy loan or a partial withdrawal. A loan left unpaid reduces what your beneficiary gets and can raise the risk of a lapse. We show you the impact before you withdraw anything.
Do I need a medical exam to apply?
It varies with your age, the coverage amount and the carrier. Some policies ask only health questions, while larger amounts often require a short exam and records. We tell you what to expect before you apply.
Do you work with people outside Lewisville?
Yes. We have clients throughout the area, including Flower Mound, Highland Village, Carrollton and The Colony, and everything can be handled by phone.
