ServicesRetirement Income Planning

Retirement Income Planning in Lewisville

Building a nest egg and living on it are two different problems. We add up the income you expect, find the months where it may fall short, and explain the insurance-based options that could cover the difference. The same agent stays with you from your first question on.

Turning Savings Into Income You Can Count On

Most people reach retirement with a few separate pieces: Social Security, a 401(k) or IRA, maybe a pension, maybe a life insurance policy with cash value. Each piece has its own rules and timing. Retirement income planning means putting those pieces side by side so you can see what arrives each month and what might run short.

Our part of that picture is insurance-based income. That usually means annuities, which can turn a lump sum into scheduled payments, and permanent life policies whose cash value can be drawn on later. We explain how each one works, what it costs to get in and out, and where it does not fit. Some clients leave the first conversation deciding they need nothing new, and that is a fine outcome.

You talk with the same agent the whole way through. If you call back three weeks later with a question about surrender periods or beneficiaries, you reach the person who already knows your numbers.

What the Planning Covers

An income inventory

We list every source you expect: Social Security estimates, pensions, retirement accounts, rental or part-time income, and existing policies. Seeing them on one page is often the most useful step.

A monthly gap check

We compare expected income with your expected spending, including healthcare costs that tend to rise with age. The gap, if there is one, tells us how much income you actually need to create.

Annuity options explained

Fixed, fixed indexed and income annuities behave very differently. We walk through payout choices, surrender schedules, fees and riders so you know what you would be agreeing to before you sign anything.

A look at cash value policies

People who own a whole life or universal life contract often have cash value they have never touched. We work out what it could add to your monthly income once you stop working. Loans and withdrawals shrink what your loved ones receive later, and we show you roughly by how much.

Survivor and beneficiary check

When a pension or annuity pays only while one spouse is alive, the other can be left short. We look at joint and survivor payout choices and confirm the names listed on each contract still reflect your wishes.

When a Retirement Income Plan Makes Sense

Your retirement date is getting close
Within a few years of stopping work, choices about claiming Social Security and drawing on savings get harder to undo. Starting early gives you room to change course.
You have savings but no paycheck plan
A large account balance is not the same as knowing what to withdraw each month without running low. If that number feels fuzzy, we can work it out together.
A pension choice is on the table
Lump sum versus monthly payments, single life versus joint survivor. These choices are usually permanent, so they deserve a careful look first.
You worry about outliving your money
Longer lifespans are good news with a cost attached. Some clients want part of their income guaranteed by an insurer for life, and we can explain how that works.
You own an old annuity or policy you do not understand
Many people inherit or forget contracts bought years ago. We read the paperwork with you and explain what it pays, what it costs and your options.

How Working With Us Goes

  1. 1

    A first phone conversation

You tell us where you are and what concerns you. We ask about your timeline and income sources and let you know what paperwork will help.

  2. 2

    Gathering the numbers

We review your Social Security statement, account summaries and any existing policies or annuity contracts. Nothing is recommended until we understand the full picture.

  3. 3

    A plain walkthrough of options

We show you the income gap and the ways to close it, including doing nothing new. Each option comes with its costs, restrictions and trade-offs written out.

  4. 4

    Applying and follow-up

If you choose a product, we handle the application and keep you updated until the contract arrives. After that, you still have one agent to call with questions as life changes.

What Shapes the Cost of Retirement Income

There is no single price for retirement income, because the cost depends on the product you choose and how it is set up. What we can do is explain each fee and limit before you commit. These are the factors that move the numbers most.

Your age when income starts
Starting payments later usually means larger checks, because the insurer expects to pay for fewer years. Starting earlier means smaller payments over a longer stretch.
Guarantees and riders
Lifetime income riders, inflation adjustments and joint survivor options add protection, and most carry an added cost or reduce the base payout.
Surrender schedules and access
Most annuities let you take out a set amount each year at no charge. Pull out more during the early contract years and a surrender charge applies. Contracts with longer schedules often offer stronger terms in exchange for less flexibility.
Interest rates when you buy
Annuity payout rates follow the rate environment at the time of purchase. The same deposit can produce different income depending on when the contract is issued.

Retirement Income Questions We Hear Often

Will you push me toward an annuity?
We start by showing you where your income stands, not by recommending a product. If Social Security, a pension and your savings already cover what you spend, we will say so and you can stop there.
Can I get my money out of an annuity if I need it?
Usually yes, but with limits. Most contracts allow a set percentage each year without a charge, and withdrawals beyond that during the surrender period cost a fee. We go over those numbers line by line before you apply.
Can a life insurance policy help pay for retirement?
It can, if the policy is a permanent one. Whole life and universal life coverage build cash value over the years, and once you stop working you can borrow against it or withdraw part of it. Either move lowers what your beneficiary eventually receives, so we lay out both sides. For coverage that only needs to last a set number of years, our term life insurance page explains that option.
Will you manage my 401(k) or stock investments?
We focus on insurance-based income like annuities and cash value policies. We will look at your accounts to understand the full picture, and we are glad to work alongside a financial advisor you already use.
Do you meet with clients outside Lewisville?
Yes. We work with people across the area, including Flower Mound, Highland Village, Carrollton and Coppell. Most of the planning can happen by phone, with paperwork reviewed together when you are ready.
